Glowing Green Juice

Green juice rules!
They are so easy to make and they help you get a ton of vitamins without you really noticing. Also the benefits are never ending!
I've found that they help clear your skin and make it glow. They also strengthen your hair and give you a crazy amount of energy. Obviously the effects will differ depending on what you put in your juice, but all will do wonders for your health!
I will admit that some green juices taste like grass... and honestly that used to turn me off them. But I've managed to come up with a recipe that actually tastes good!

Enjoy :) xx

Quinoa Porridge

Quinoa is actually  pronounced "keen-wah," not "kwin-oh-ah." Which I find weird  but at the end of the day people will probably know what you're talking about regardless of correct pronunciation.
Quinoa is one of the most versatile foods to work with. It can be adapted to be in so many different recipes - breakfast, lunch and tea.
Today I will be sharing with you a simple quinoa porridge that I eat most mornings. I have a very temperamental  stomach and really struggle to find food that it can tolerate. This quinoa porridge has always been a winner for me and can be adapted in so many different ways. It is gluten free and super high in protein, plus super easy to make.

QUINOA PORRIDGE WITH RICE MILK & BLUEBERRIES

Ingredients:
1/2 cup quinoa oats
3/4 cup boiling water
1/3 unsweetened rice milk
1/4 cup frozen blueberries

Method:
1. Place quinoa oats and boiling water in a bowl, stir and microwave for 1 minute.
2. Remove from microwave, stir and add rice milk.
3. Add blueberries and enjoy while hot!

Pretty simple hey! I used rice milk as I can't find any unsweetened almond milk that is actually unsweetened (so many hidden sugars around!) and soy upsets my stomach. I understand that different people are used to different levels of sweetness and flavour, I find the berries sweet enough. This recipe is really delicious just as it is, but can be modified for all different palletes.

Below are some extras you could play around with:
-rice malt syrup
-Apple
-cinnamon
-nutmeg
-cacao powder
-maca powder
-coconut flakes
The list could go on forever !

Play around and find which flavours you like!

Enjoy Tess xx

i love breakfast

i am a full time breakfast enthusiast. i have a passion for health & wellness. i am a lover of jesus, good food & adventures with my preacher boy. but breakfast is the best. its the most yummiest meal of the day. i go to bed at the end of the day planning and dreaming about what heavenly concoction i can create for myself in the morning. those of you who think im a little obsessive just take a moment to try and understand why breakfast is such a passion of mine. firstly its the only meal of which you have the choice of a sweet or savoury option. and options there are. breakfast is delicious and amazing but it is also so so so important. breakfast pretty much is breaking your fast. you haven't eaten since the day before which means for most of us its been around 8-12 hours since our body has had food! food is fuel to our body. you wouldn't expect a car to work very well on an empty tank would you? hence you shouldn't expect your body to run without its morning fuel. i also know that for people with food allergies or intolerance it can be really hard to think of creative ideas, i feel your pain. but never fear. this blog will aim to help explain, inform and inspire you to become passionate about breakfast (and other meals) by covering all types of food intolerances and allergies. i have no formal qualifications YET but God willingly will be studying nutrition next year! so follow my journey as i learn more and grow in my knowledge of food, glorious food. enjoy! tess xx
